❝ A BRIEF HISTORY.A traditionally beautiful woman, Charlotte was doted upon by her parents from the moment she was born. Though the D'amboise family lacked the power and influence of Ishgard's four High Houses, they did not want for coin, and so it was that the girl grew into a promising young lady who was soon to inherit her mother's laurels. She was a prominent fixture of her family's public image up until the events that preceded the Dragonsong War, during which the budding opera personality just seventeen summers old became mysteriously absent from their dealings. She resurfaced again two turns later, well after the bloodshed had seen its end.Most who knew her were doubtful of her family's dismissive inquiries regarding her whereabouts for those two long turns, and while she quickly resumed her pretty life in her family's pretty house, she was never the same again. A long shadow had fallen over her; a furtive strangeness that she sought to obliterate at every turn by indulging in the familiar wealth and ample opportunities afforded her by her parents' notoriety. It did not last forever, though. Her nation of Ishgard had changed, but so too had she, and so it was that a new desire blossomed within her.These days, Charlotte has fled the nest to explore the world beyond Aldenard. While she seems to have put her dreams of being a career performer behind her, there is sure to be no shortage of adventure that lies in wait—and perhaps a few opportunities to use her voice, besides.

Charlotte can be kind of mean! She's a snotty rich girl who, while not entirely devoid of empathy or kindness, is very used to getting her way in things. Please don't take anything that she says or does personally; I'm always willing to tone back her attitude for those who don't really enjoy the Mean Girl™ angle.Additionally, it's been a little tricky to cement an accurate timeline of events owing to XIV's interesting way of handling the passage of time. Yoshida has stated that there isn't really any "official" timeline, but rather that he prefers that players think in their minds what "works" most for them. Owing to this, I've based her current age around the assumption that each expac's MSQ accounts for at least one in-game year, give or take some number of months.I've heard the "the entire game's story (from ARR) up to present day (Dawntrail) took place in 1-2 year(s)" theory, but I've played the game since Heavensward, and I don't really like the way that feels.TL;DR: Don't think about it too much.
